Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is back for Champions League holders Real Madrid ahead of a Group Stage opener against Cypriot outfit APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday night.
The 32-year-old hasn’t turned out for Real Madrid since the Spanish Super Cup meeting against Barcelona, where he was sent off shortly after a cameo appearance which included a world-class strike en route to a 3-1 victory at the Camp Nou.
Zinedine Zidane has a near full-strength squad to choose from for Wednesday night’s clash barring injuries which keep Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema out of the squad.
The former trained with the rest of the squad ahead of the clash with APOEL but was unable to complete the session, whilst the latter was always unlikely to make the squad after being forced off just 28 minutes into the weekend’s La Liga meeting with Levante.
Real Madrid will be looking to make a statement on Wednesday night following back-to-back league draws against Valencia and Levante which leave them four points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.
