Manchester City playmaker David Silva is on the verge of signing a bumper new deal worth £150,000 per week until 2020, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spain international is currently under contract until the end of next season and, amidst reported interest from AC Milan, looks set to add a further year to his contract.

David Silva signed for Manchester City in 2010 from Valencia, turning out to be one of the greatest players in the history of the club, winning two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup.

No player has produced more assists in the Premier League than David Silva since he joined Manchester City ahead of the 2010/11 season – he has 70 assists in 227 appearances.

One trophy missing from his cabinet – and the club’s – is the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City have gone no further than a Semi-Final appearance in 2016, where they lost to eventual winners Real Madrid, but the Spaniard is quietly optimistic surrounding their chances this time around.

“We have never won the Champions League and most of the players in this squad have never won the Premier League, so we want to win big things and together we hope we can get them,” said David Silva.

He currently leads the Premier League for assists, with six from seven appearances, as Manchester City sit undefeated at the top the table.

Pep Guardiola’s troops will be eyeing a ninth straight victory in all competitions when they welcome Stoke City to the Etihad in the Premier League on Saturday.
