Manchester City forward Leroy Sane has been named Premier League Player of the Month for October after a stellar goalscoring return for Pep Guardiola’s in-form side.
The 21-year-old netted three and assisted three in victories over West Bromwich Albion, Burnley and Stoke City.
Leroy Sane saw off competition from teammate Kevin De Bruyne, Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, Brighton & Hove Albion forward Glen Murray and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha to take out the award for the first time in his career.
Interestingly, Leroy Sane is only the second German to claim the Premier League Player of the Month award after Jurgen Klinsmann, who won it with Tottenham in August 1994.
Considering Manchester City’s impeccable start, it’s not too surprising to see that Pep Guardiola has taken out the October Premier League Manager of the Month award – doing so for consecutive months after taking out the award in September.
