Southampton vs Arsneal 01 01 2015 H2H
In our last preview about Southampton, we underlined that their very good first half of the season only lacks one big triumph. And they were on the verge of quite a big one against Chelsea, but they just couldn’t have closed it. A point and good game versus the biggest contender for the title are no reasons for dispiritedness, especially if you have a second chance against not that difficult opponent.
Arsenal comes to St Mary’s in one of the most interesting games of the round and, as it appears, the match between the rivals for the fourth spot. Gunners are favorites, of course, but at the macro scale the task in front of them could be just as hard as beating Southampton at Emirates in the first half of the season, when Alexis clinched a victory just a minute before the end.
The hosts, boosted by a good game with the more successful London club a couple of days ago, will be looking for revenge and this year’s Arsenal is not a hard nut to crack, as Stoke City showed not so long ago, and in particular after an almost traditional problems that Wenger has with his injured players. His options in the midfield and attack are limited due to suspension of Olivier Giroud and injuries of Ramsey, Arteta and Wilshere, maybe even Sanogo and Welbeck.
After four losses in a row since the end of November, Ronald Koeman’s squad withheld the first run of bad results with two victories and a draw in the last three games and they could finally prove themselves with a big triumph, although Arsenal’s unpredictability often shows with a victory when just a few are expecting it.
