Sturridge made a flying return with a goal (VIDEO)

Liverpool have continued their good run in Premier League with a 2-0 win against one of the most positive surprises of the season, West Ham, while the guests keep on declining after a great first half of the season and, at least for now, it seems Sam Allardyce will have to focus on FA Cup for spot in the continental competition.

Despite getting knocked out in a League Cup semifinal against Chelsea last week, which could be seen as a failure since it was the best chance for a trophy this season, Brendan Rodgers’ team made 16 from possible 18 points in the last month – in a ‘slow but steady’ manner. Liverpool is now just four points away from the fourth spot’s Southampton, who are welcoming Swansea at Sunday at the Stadium of Light.

Aside from one another victory, Liverpool fans are probably going to get excited because of a successful return from Daniel Sturridge, who needed just ten minutes to get in the score sheet after a five-month pause. England international picked up a great pass from Coutinho, who had also assisted Sterling in the 51st minute , and send a precise shoot at the near post to certify a win over the Hammers. Brendan Rodgers said he was delighted with Sturidge’s effectiveness, but he also lowered down expectations from the fans and insisted Sturridge may have to find his form in the coming weeks.

“I am delighted for him. He has come back into the fold but it is just managing that integration into the team. It was better him scoring than not scoring because if he doesn’t everyone is looking at him wondering when he will get his first goal.”
