Liverpool have signed 7 new players. Yes, that’s the number of ‘new’ players Brendan Rodgers has signed this summer after last summer’s spending spree.
After selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75 million, Liverpool brought in Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic, Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Divock Origi (who was sent back on loan to Lille) and the controversial Mario Balotelli.
The club spent over £100 million over these players, 3 quarters of which came from the selling of Suarez but this large overhaul did anything but help Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers who finished 5th behind Manchester United thus failing to qualify for the Champions League.
This summer has brought in optimism as Liverpool are out to arrest their fall. They have brought in 7 new players. The most promising of the new signings seems to be Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino who has excited the fans already.
Liverpool released Firmino’s first interview where the Brazilian talks about his future at the club and also speaks highly of his compatriot Philippe Coutinho. The £29m signing from Hoffenheim described him as a great human being with a “big heart”.
