It’s widely known that Karim Benzema got involved in a sex-tape scandal with Mathieu Valbuena recently, thus seriously impacting his chances of being chosen in the France Euro 2016 squad.
When Deschamps did not include him in the list, it was a bit shocking, but understandable – the head-coach of the French squad most likely didn’t want anything to distract the players from playing football. However, it seems that Benzema thinks otherwise. In an interview with Marca, the Real Madrid striker shared that in his opinion, he was not chosen due to racism.
“He has bowed to the pressure of a racist part of France,” Benzema told Marca. “He has to know that in France the extremist party reached the second round in the last two elections. “I do not know if this decision was only down to Didier, because I get along with him, with the president (of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Graet) and everyone.”
