Leicester City pulled of an almost impossible feat in the 2015-16 Premier League season, as they were able to snatch the title from all the powerhouses in English football. However, it seems that playing for the cup holders and in the UEFA Champions League won’t be enough for some of the squad members.
It was previously reported that Arsenal are close to reaching a deal with Jamie Vardy and that Chelsea are in a serious pursuit of N’Golo Kante. However, now it seems that Riyad Mahrez could be leaving the Foxes as well, as clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown pretty serious interest in the PFA Premier League Player of the Year. Claudio Ranieri has made a couple of public statements in which he has tried to convince his stars to remain at the club, but whether his strategy will work remains to be seen.
Mahrez gave a short interview on the topic, while doing some punditry work in France at the moment:
“Leicester’s a family club; I’m happy there and I’d be happy to stay. I haven’t decided on my future yet; we’ll see. It’s possible that I leave, it’s possible that I stay, so we’ll see.”
