The 2015-16 season was a pretty amazing one for Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Real Madrid star was able to lift both the Champions League and Euro 2016 trophies. Thus, it wasn’t too surprising when he was announced as the UEFA Best Player of the year on Thursday night.
For Ronaldo this was the second time he won the award, which is the same number as his rival Lionel Messi. The Portuguese had pretty tough competition this year, with both Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann having terrific season with club and country.
However, the most surprising thing of the night was not Ronaldo getting the award, but his speech. The Portuguese gave a pretty humble speech by stating that both Bale and Griezmann deserve it as well.
