Barcelona's Lionel Messi has requested a special release clause in his new contract with the Catalonians

Most of the Barcelona fans around the world would probably want Lionel Messi to retire with Barcelona, but it seems those aren’t the plans of the Argentine star.

Despite the fact that it doesn’t look like Messi will leave Camp Nou anytime soon, according to the news outlet AS, he has requested a special release clause before signing his contract extension. However, the clause is not about him leaving Barca for another big club in Europe – the five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or simply wants to finish his career where his rise in football began – Newell’s Old Boys.

Thus, Barcelona fans shouldn’t be too worried – Messi won’t be leaving the Catalan club while in his prime, but he won’t finish his career there either.
