Brazil and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo is an admirer of Liverpool’s attacking maestro Phillipe Coutinho, and says he would like to see his compatriot line-up alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.
“I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player,” said Ronaldo, the two-time World Cup winner and second-highest goal scorer for the Brazilian national team. Coutinho has become a key player for Liverpool in recent years, bailing them out on many occasions with audacious strikes from outside the box. He was so close to doing it once again just a few days ago, when Liverpool laboured in vein to break the deadlock against Manchester United, having to accept a point after Jose Mourinho’s pragmatic game plan nullified the creative and free flowing style of Liverpool in recent weeks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxy2IpiMQoA
The 24-year-old has drawn acclaim for his mazy runs and long-range screamers for The Reds, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona being briefly linked with the player in recent months, but the Brazilian has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2020. A move to a club with the stature of a Real Madrid or Barcelona wouldn’t be too surprising considering Coutinho’s consistent form over his three and a half year stay at Liverpool, but his current club would be keen to ensure a hefty transfer sum for his services.
Coutinho has hit three league goals this season and does so with a typically high shots-per-game average of 3.9, placing him 4th in the Premier League for that category, with only Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking more shots than the Brazilian. That is one part of his game that draws criticism from Liverpool fans, but when he can score goals like this it’s hard to argue with his decision making.
