AC Milan are reportedly prepared to offer a whopping €80 million to land Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
The deal would see Belotti join the San Siro based club on a €20 million loan deal in the first season, with an option to purchase the 23-year-old for €60 million at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Should Milan go ahead with their overall €80 million transfer for Belotti, it would be the most expensive signing in the history of the club, eclipsing the deal to bring in Rui Costa from Fiorentina in 2001.
As discussions continue between the two parties over a potential move, the proposed transfer of Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina takes a back seat, as the Torino man is their priority signing.
Manchester United were reported to have been in the race for Belotti, but have withdrawn as they focus their attention on completing the signing of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
Belotti enjoyed his most prolific season to date in 2016/17, finishing as the club’s top scorer, and third in Serie A, with 26 goals in 35 league appearances.
His club form earned him a call-up to the Italian national team, debuting in October of last year, and has four goals from nine caps.
Andrea Belotti is an avid AC Milan fan who admitted to idolising legendary striker Andriy Shevchenko as a child, and ‘cried with joy’ when the Ukrainian sent him a happy birthday message.
