Manchester United has made headlines by agreeing a £75 million fee with Everton over the transfer of 24-year-old striker Romelu Lukaku.
Romelu Lukaku was heavily rumoured to re-join Chelsea over the summer, with Antonio Conte prepared to splash up to £100 million to sign the striker and replace the outgoing Diego Costa, but the Belgian now appears Old Trafford bound.
A move to Manchester United would re-unite Lukaku with Jose Mourinho, the man who sold him to Everton in 2014.
Lukaku has improved significantly in that time, netting goal tallies of 20 or more across all competitions in each of the past three seasons.
He was also Everton’s top-scorer and finished second in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 25 goals last season, his best-ever return in the division.
Manchester United’s need to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic led to ongoing talk of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata’s potential arrival, but all interest in the Spaniard appears to be over.
Jose Mourinho is hoping the deal can be completely quickly enough for Romelu Lukaku to link up with his new teammates on the pre-season tour of the United States.
