Arsenal pre-season schedule and squad updates

Arsenal have begun pre-season preparations in Australia, completing back-to-back victories against Australian A-League outfits Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.

arsenalStar signing Alexandre Lacazette has already had the opportunity to endear himself to the Arsenal fans after a club-record signing, and endear himself he did when he came off the substitutes bench to score within 15 minutes of his debut appearance for The Gunners against Sydney FC.

A familiar foe awaits in Shanghai when Arsenal meet Bayern Munich on Wednesday, before facing off against London rivals Chelsea at Beijing National Stadium – the venue which hosted the 2008 Olympic Games – on Saturday.

Arsenal conclude pre-season on home soil, welcoming Benfica and Sevilla to The Emirates Stadium on July 29 and July 30 for the Emirates Cup.

That will not be Arsenal’s last hit out before the Premier League opener against Leicester City on August 11, though, as the FA Cup winners have a Community Shield tie against Premier League champions Chelsea on August 6.

A huge wave of reassurance and relief has drifted across Arsenal fans all around the world following Arsene Wenger’s announcement that the club will not sell Alexis Sanchez.

“The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell,” said a defiant Wenger amidst heavy interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

The same level of importance at Arsenal does not linger over the future of English midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is the target of a £6 million + add-ons move to Sampdoria, reports Sky Italia.
