Manchester United favourites to sign PSG’s Serge Aurier

French media outlet Paris United are reporting an agreement between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain full-back Serge Aurier for a summer transfer.

Aurier refused to sign a contract extension with PSG last season with reports suggesting the Ivorian had signed an agreement in principle with The Red Devils as early as April.

Serge Aurier has 39 caps for Ivory Coast, the nation he initially turned down, and captained the side in their two recent losses to Holland and Guinea. He has played his entire youth and senior career in France, turning professional with RC Lens in 2009.

The 24-year-old endured a turbulent season in France both on and off the pitch but remains as one of the more promising full-back prospects in world football.

His seemingly impending exit has only been compounded by his exclusion from PSG’s pre-season training camp in the United States, and he was not even listed as a substitute in their 2-1 French Super Cup victory over Monaco on the weekend.

As for Manchester United, they would benefit significantly from the addition of another powerful and pacey full-back to ease the burden from the shoulders of Antonio Valencia, who turns 32 ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on August 8.
