AC Milan are eyeing one last piece of business to wrap-up one of the most active transfer windows in the club’s history – and one to spearhead them into the 2017/18 campaign.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa could be AC Milan’s final acquisition, despite the Spanish international keen on a return to Atletico Madrid.
However, Costa has grown impatient with Atletico’s hesitance, leaving the door open for AC Milan to take action.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are already in discussions with Chelsea and Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a summer transfer to the San Siro.
While a move to Atletico Madrid is Costa’s preference, it presents the obvious inconvenience of either not playing until January or going out on loan somewhere else, due to their transfer ban.
Milan have also identified Andrea Belotti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as targets to reinforce their attack, but both of their respective clubs have played hardball in their negotiations, demanding excessive transfer fees.
Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic is a back-up option for Milan, and reports suggest that the Croatian has already agreed terms for a move, but the two clubs have not yet agreed on a transfer fee.
