Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina set for Premier League switch

Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina is set for a medical with English Premier League outfit Southampton, reports French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi.

The £18 million deal for the Gabon international will be Mauricio Pellegrino’s second signing of the season, following the arrival of Lech Poznan defender Jan Bednarek.

Mario Lemina leaves Juventus with 42 appearances across two seasons, scoring three times. 29 of those outings were in Serie A, but just 15 were from the starting line-up. At Southampton, Lemina will be used much more frequently, and could form a solid partnership with Spanish enforcer Oriol Romeu in midfield.

Mario Lemina has spent two seasons at Juventus, the first of which was on loan before a €9.5 million (£8.5 million) arrangement was made with Marseille over a permanent transfer in April 2016.

Though appearances were hard to come by for the 23-year-old, he leaves the club with two Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia’s to his name, and came off the bench in last season’s UEFA Champions League Final loss to Real Madrid.
