Barcelona have made their first approach for Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembele, reports Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Catalan club have submitted a €70 million + bonuses bid for the exciting Frenchman, who has only been at Borussia Dortmund for one season.
A report from French outlet L’Equipe claim that Barcelona have started with an offer ‘in the region’ of €100 million.
Either way, while it’s widely expected that the Germans will be stubborn in their negotiations over the 20-year-old’s potential sale, an offer around the €100 million mark may prove too tempting.
Ousmane Demebele has been on Barca’s wishlist for quite some time, with reports in June suggesting a move to the five-time Champions League winners was on the cards.
In an example of how quickly the landscape can change in football, Barcelona have since shockingly lost Brazilian superstar Neymar for €222 million to Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar’s departure leaves a huge gap to be filled at Barcelona. Dembele’s purchase would be a great addition to the squad, but he alone can’t be expected to consistently perform on that level, which is why several other players are being targeted.
