Inter Milan have confirmed the loan signing of Portuguese right-back Joao Cancelo from Valencia.
The Nerazzurri have the option to buy the 23-year-old before his loan expires on June 30, 2018.
Joao Cancelo’s transfer was part of an agreement that has already seen Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia head in the opposite direction, joining Valencia on loan.
Starting his career at Benfica’s youth academy, Joao Cancelo made just one appearance for the senior side before joining Valencia on loan in 2014.
13 appearances across all competitions that season was enough to sign permanently with Los Che, costing them €15 million, but the fee was reimbursed in the next two campaigns as Cancelo became an important member of the squad.
Athletic, technical and versatile, Cancelo is predominantly a defender, operating from the right side of defence, but is also capable of playing as a winger.
Cancelo made an emotional Valencia swansong at the weekend, leaving the pitch to a standing ovation after helping his now former club to an opening day victory over Las Palmas.
