Stevan Jovetic on the verge of AS Monaco move

Montenegro and Inter Milan striker Stevan Jovetic is primed for a move to French champions AS Monaco, writes French media outlet L’Equipe.

The player was at Stade Louis II on Sunday night to watch his new side dismantle Olympique de Marseille 6-1.

The reported €11 million transfer to AS Monaco would mark Stevan Jovetic’s sixth career club; he transitioned from youth player to professional with Partizan Belgrade before spells with Fiorentina, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Sevilla and now AS Monaco.

News of the former Manchester City man’s move from San Siro might not come as a surprise; he’s been on the periphery at Inter Milan since joining in 2016 and was unused in their opening two Serie A fixtures against Fiorentina and Roma.

While Kylian Mbappe edges closer to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, it appears Stevan Jovetic would not come in as a direct replacement.

Instead, it is thought that Jovetic would replace Valere Germain, who since departed for Olympique de Marseille, as a second-striker.

Stevan Jovetic possess obvious quality, as seen through a stellar international record of 23 goals in 46 appearances, but he has never quite recovered from a succession of injuries that have limited him to just 41 league starts across the past four seasons combined.
