Isco signs Real Madrid renewal with €700 million release clause

It appears that Real Madrid aren’t willing to take any chances over the future of Spanish playmaker Isco.

The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year extension with the Champions League holders, keeping him at the club until 2022, as confirmed on Real Madrid’s official website.

Isco will reportedly take home €6 million per year after signing the extension.

Though last season returned his fewest La Liga starts since moving to Real Madrid from Malaga in 2013, Isco scored 10 goals in the league – the highest league goal return of his professional career.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Isco’s new contract includes a staggering €700 million release clause – no doubt an action taken after the ease in which Paris Saint-Germain were able to prise Neymar away from rivals Barcelona.

Isco stepped up in the absence of Gareth Bale last season, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s first La Liga title since 2012.

He also featured in six of their Champions League matches en route to a successful title defence, including a goal in the Semi-Finals against Atletico Madrid.
