It appears that Real Madrid aren’t willing to take any chances over the future of Spanish playmaker Isco.
The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year extension with the Champions League holders, keeping him at the club until 2022, as confirmed on Real Madrid’s official website.
Isco will reportedly take home €6 million per year after signing the extension.
According to Spanish news outlet AS, Isco’s new contract includes a staggering €700 million release clause – no doubt an action taken after the ease in which Paris Saint-Germain were able to prise Neymar away from rivals Barcelona.
Isco stepped up in the absence of Gareth Bale last season, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s first La Liga title since 2012.
He also featured in six of their Champions League matches en route to a successful title defence, including a goal in the Semi-Finals against Atletico Madrid.
