Atletico Madrid’s final offer for wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid have submitted a final offer of €55 million plus €10 million in bonuses for wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa, per Spanish newspaper Marca.

They claim that Chelsea have ‘little choice’ but to accept the apparent ‘final offer’ from the Spanish club, who would be unable to register the forward until January.

That would lead to further inactivity for Diego Costa, whose last competitive appearance was well over three months ago.

Diego Costa has enjoyed trophy-laden spells at both Atletico Madrid and Chelsea; he won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2014, as well as two UEFA Super Cups and a Copa del Rey, while he has an English League Cup to go with two Premier League titles with his current club.

The Spain international’s desire to move to his former club has resulted in a transfer saga that has stretched beyond the summer window, as Costa is still technically a Chelsea player despite being told he was out of Antonio Conte’s plans in June.

Los Rojiblancos had hoped that negotiations for the Chelsea striker would lead to an announcement on his signing at the opening of Wanda Metropolitano, their new stadium, but no agreement was reached.

Diego Costa has two Premier League titles to his name with The Blues, finishing as their top-scorer on both occasions, and has 59 goals from 120 appearances for the club.
