Fresh off the heels of a disappointing 2-0 loss to Leicester City in the League Cup, Liverpool return to the King Power Stadium for a Premier League meeting on Saturday.
To add to the tense feeling around the club following four games on the trot without a win, Liverpool face the prospect of being without Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Emre Can on the weekend.
“It’s nothing major but it’s enough to keep him (Dejan Lovren) out of two games and he is not in training so far, so that means he is also a doubt for the weekend,” said Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s the same, but with completely different (injuries) for Joel Matip and Emre Can. They have little bits from the last game, so we have to see.”
The Reds could name utility defender Joe Gomez, who has also covered at right-back, to partner Ragnar Klavan at centre-half against Leicester City.
That would force Jurgen Klopp to field a relatively inexperienced backline overall on the weekend, with Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to take the right-back spot in the continued absence of Nathaniel Clyne.
