Gianluigi Donnarumma claims he would ‘never’ join Inter Milan and staying at AC Milan was the ‘right thing to do’ in an interview on private television network Canale 5.
The 18-year-old caused a storm in the media when he turned down the chance to renew his contract with the Rossoneri in June, but ended speculation a month later by signing a deal which ties him to the club until 2021.
“I stayed because Milan is my home and I thought it the right thing to do to stay at Milan,” said Donnarumma on his decision over the summer.
Asked if a move to crosstown rivals Inter Milan would tempt him, Donnarumma promptly responded with ‘never’, but took on a different tone when asked about a potential move to Juventus in the future.
“No, I still have four years on my contract with Milan.”
With Gianluigi Buffon reportedly set to retire at the end of the campaign, Juventus and the Italian national team will be on the lookout for a new long-term number one, with many believing that Gianluigi Donnarumma is his rightful heir.
