Goal of the Season contender from the Dutch Eredivisie

PSV’s 7-1 destruction of FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie provided a memorable moment from teenage winger Steven Bergwijn.

The 19-year-old, who dropped to the bench after starting all five of PSV’s opening league fixtures, came on in the 81st minute to score a breathtaking solo effort.

Though the game was well and truly over as a contest at 6-1 for the league leaders, Steven Begwijn’s strike will nonetheless be an early favourite to be named goal of the season.

Receiving the ball in a seemingly harmless position, Steven Bergwijn was allowed the time and space to turn some 40 yards from goal.

A burst of acceleration takes him past the first marker, who lunges in vein as he approaches the 18-yard box, before jinking his way through a further two defenders to put him one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Showing composure beyond his youth, Bergwijn effortlessly deceives the on-rushing David Jensen with a sharp feint and pokes the ball into an empty net to seal a dominant performance from PSV.
