Rumours are beginning to run rampant that Mesut Ozil could be on his way to Old Trafford to reunite with Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window.
It’s no secret that Mesut Ozil’s future at Arsenal is up in the air as he approaches the final six months of his contract, and The Independent claim that Manchester United fancy their chances of prising the playmaker from The Gunners.
Despite Mesut Ozil fitting into the category of a ‘luxury’ player – usually the antithesis of a key player in a Jose Mourinho side – he was a huge success under the watch of the current Manchester United boss in their spell together at Real Madrid.
A stumbling block for any potential suitor is Mesut Ozil’s reported demands for £350,000 per week – a weekly wage he wants with his current side according to the Evening Standard.
With no sign of a resolution to the drawn out contractual negotiations between Mesut Ozil and Arsenal, The Gunners would be wise to agree a fee for the German to eliminate the possibility of losing him on a Bosman next summer.
Manchester United will need to materialise the speculation with an actual offer if they hope to avoid losing out to a foreign club; Mesut Ozil will be free to talk with any overseas club from January 1, with The Mirror reporting that Inter Milan are interested in making an offer.
