Real Madrid’s potential FIFA Club World Cup opponents revealed

Real Madrid begin their quest for three Club World Cup triumphs in four years when they enter in the Semi-Final stage in December.

Following Monday’s FIFA Club World Cup draw, Real Madrid have learned that one of Auckland City, Al-Jazira or the Asian Champions will meet them in the Semi-Finals.

Real Madrid took out the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup after downing Japan’s Kashima Antlers in the final, winning 4-2 courtesy of goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, with the latter netting a match-winning hattrick.

Al-Jazira, who are from this year’s host nation United Arab Emirates, take on New Zealand outfit Auckland City, who took out their 9th Oceania Champions League title last season, in the Play-Off.

The winner will then face the Asian Champions in the Quarter-Finals – which will be one of Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, Iranian outfit Persepolis, Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

Real Madrid will be awaiting the winner of that clash in the Semi-Finals, while the Copa Libertadores winners will meet either Mexican side Pachuca or the African Champions in the other Semi-Final meeting.

The Final of the FIFA Club World Cup takes place in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
