Arsenal and Tottenham are the frontrunners for the signature of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to the Mirror.
Riyad Mahrez was the subject of speculation for a move away from The Foxes over the summer, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Serie A outfit AS Roma potential destinations, but he ultimately stayed on with the club he joined in 2014.
The Algerian international scored 17 league goals in the 2015/16 season as Leicester City secured their first ever Premier League title under Italian manager Claudio Ranieri.
His performances even caught the eye of Spanish giants Barcelona, who were seriously considering a move for the 26-year-old but, once again, nothing materialised.
With Arsene Wenger recently acknowledging that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could leave on free transfers at the end of the season, Riyad Mahrez’s inclusion would help share some of the creative burden that will fall onto the rest of the Arsenal squad in the absence of the star duo.
As for Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad appear to be much more settled. None of their star players are being linked with moves away from the club, meaning a move to Spurs for Mahrez would likely see him deployed in a role off the bench.
