Cristiano Ronaldo named The Best FIFA Men’s Player

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has taken out his second successive Best FIFA Men’s Player award after a trophy-laden campaign.

The 32-year-old helped Real Madrid to their first La Liga title in five years, scoring 25 times in 29 appearances, and turned on the style in the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League, scoring 10 of his 12 goals against Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

“Amazing feeling to have won this award again,” said Cristiano Ronaldo on his official Twitter account. “Want to dedicate to my family, my friends, my teammates and coaches from both Real Madrid and Portuguese NT and everyone who supported me.”

Cristiano Ronaldo added a further four goals from two appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup, with three of those strikes coming in the Final against Japanese outfit Kashima Antlers, where Real Madrid ran out 4-2 winners.

Success has followed the former Manchester United man onto the international stage, where he qualified directly for the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Portugal after leading the way with 15 goals in nine qualifiers.

El Clasico rival Lionel Messi had to settle for second place, as he did in last year’s edition of the award, while Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar finished third.

  1. As expected, the second best player in the world was first.
The best and most successful player was clearly Messi. But Argentina and Barcelona did not do so well. The award is contaminated by the success of the teams they are playing. This is wrong. There is a separate award for the best teams.
