Goncalo Guedes on Premier League radar after impressive start with Valencia

Portuguese sensation Goncalo Guedes has caught the attention of various English Premier League clubs following a blistering start to life in Spain with Valencia.

The 20-year-old already has three goals and five assists to his name in La Liga, recently scoring a brace in Valencia’s 4-0 hammering of Sevilla.

Goncalo Guedes is one of several Benfica youth products who have progressed to a foreign top-tier league at a young age. He was picked up by Paris Saint-Germain for €30 million after just over two years with Benfica’s first team, but struggled for playing time around more established names such as Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and Julian Draxler, making only seven appearances in Ligue 1 last season.

The Portuguese international was loaned to Valencia from Paris Saint-Germain after the headline-grabbing acquisitions of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, which all-but-confirmed a substitute role.

Los Che are one of three undefeated sides in La Liga – the others being Barcelona and Atletico Madrid – with Guedes one of the biggest contributors to their 2nd place status after nine matches.

According to French outlet Paris United, Goncalo Guedes’ positive start to the season hasn’t gone unnoticed.

They claim that various English Premier League outfits are monitoring the youngster, though without actually naming any clubs, but they did say that domestic rivals Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing him to the Wanda Metropolitano.
