Fernando Torres is set for a second exit from boyhood club Atletico Madrid amidst limited playing time, wayward form and the impending arrival of Diego Costa.
According to Diario AS, the 33-year-old has opted to leave the club despite having six months left on his contract.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker hasn’t started a La Liga match since the opening day and has received scatted match-time in a further five appearances of the bench.
However, the Atletico Madrid hitman has failed to replicate his scoring touch from the past two seasons and is yet to open his account despite making 10 appearances in all competitions.
With Diego Costa arriving in January, Torres will be surplus to requirements as Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro, Angel Correa and Luciano Vietto all hold a higher status in the pecking order of Diego Simeone’s squad.
Reports suggest that Fernando Torres is open to a move to either the MLS or Chinese Super League.
