A host of European giants are monitoring the progress of Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka after the German international’s sparkling form in the Bundesliga.
The likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham and, of course, Bayern Munich have been listed as admirers of the 22-year-old, who is approaching the final six months of his contract.
That’s according to Neil Moxley from the Daily Mirror, while Kaustubh Pandey of Calciomercato.com mentioned Juventus and Liverpool as potential destinations.
Rumours will continue to circulate as January approaches, which is when the Bochum youth product can discuss terms with clubs.
In fact, some sources have gone as far as to say that his future is already wrapped up, with German sources suggesting he’s a certainty to join Bayern Munich next summer, while Mundo Deportivo claim he’s ‘decided to join Barcelona’ when his contract expires.
While most claims can be taken with a pinch of salt, it’s the form of Leon Goretzka which adds a sense of plausibility to some of the sensationalist headlines.
He is Schalke’s top scorer in the Bundesliga with four goals in nine games, aiding their resurgence from a mediocre 10th place finish last term to sit in a more familiar 4th spot after 11 matches.
