Manchester United are expecting Marouane Fellaini to leave the club when his deal expires in the summer, according to Manchester Evening News.
Turkish club Besiktas are believed to be the front-runners for the Belgium international, with a member of their board publicly announcing an interest in the player.
“(Marouane) Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him,” Metin Albayrakhe is reported as saying by Turkish-football.com.
“We want to make the signing for the winter transfer window or for the end of the season.”
Marouane Fellaini will be able to open talks with potential suitors on January 1, when he enters the final six months of his contract.
Jose Mourinho admitted he is ‘worried’ about the situation, signalling to the importance which he places upon the 29-year-old in his squad.
The former Everton man has found the net three times from seven appearances in the Premier League this season, which is more than his league tally from the last two seasons combined.
