Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, giving hope of a return to action before Christmas.
According to Marca, Ousmane Dembele is eyeing a return in December’s El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava, who operated on the Frenchman in September, confirmed Dembele’s positive road to recovery via Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
“It is going quicker than expected,” said Orava.
“He already said he wants to come back before the planned date, but we don’t know if that will be possible.”
“Could he played against Real Madrid? Maybe, maybe…but I can’t assure you of anything.”
The 20-year-old was initially ruled out until 2018 after suffering the injury in just his third appearance for the Blaugrana.
Barcelona’s all-time record signing, who arrived for an incredible €105 million from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, would come as a huge bonus to a Barcelona side firing on all cylinders.
Ernesto Valverde’s troops are already eight points clear of Real Madrid (3rd) at the summit of La Liga, while Valencia’s early season purple patch has fired them to 2nd in the table.
