Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, giving hope of a return to action before Christmas.

According to Marca, Ousmane Dembele is eyeing a return in December’s El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava, who operated on the Frenchman in September, confirmed Dembele’s positive road to recovery via Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

“It is going quicker than expected,” said Orava.

“He already said he wants to come back before the planned date, but we don’t know if that will be possible.”

“Could he played against Real Madrid? Maybe, maybe…but I can’t assure you of anything.”

Barcelona’s shocking loss of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain was the catalyst to a frantic summer transfer window for Barcelona. The Blaugrana were linked with numerous players, including Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and even former Real Madrid man Angel Di Maria. Ultimately, Barcelona fans were underwhelmed with their transfer actions, lambasting the signing of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, but a successful start to the campaign has quelled their discontent – at least temporarily.

The 20-year-old was initially ruled out until 2018 after suffering the injury in just his third appearance for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona’s all-time record signing, who arrived for an incredible €105 million from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, would come as a huge bonus to a Barcelona side firing on all cylinders.

Ernesto Valverde’s troops are already eight points clear of Real Madrid (3rd) at the summit of La Liga, while Valencia’s early season purple patch has fired them to 2nd in the table.
