PSG plotting for Antonio Conte if Unai Emery fails in the UEFA Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain have contacted the representatives of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte for a potential change of the guard in the summer.

The board expects Unai Emery to guide the Ligue 1 outfit to at least the Semi-Finals of the UEFA Champions League.

If the former Sevilla manager fails, PSG want the Italian to replace Unai Emery, according to Le Parisian.

Though PSG’s reported demand of a Semi-Final berth in the UEFA Champions League doesn’t appear to be unreasonable for a club of their stature, it is a feat they haven’t achieved in over 20 years – their last Semi-Final appearance was in the 1994/95 season, when they crashed out of the tournament with a 3-0 aggregate loss to AC Milan.

Antonio Conte signed a pay-rise at Chelsea from €7.3 million to €10.8 million per year, but did not extend the length of his contract, which reportedly expires at the end of the season.

The Italian’s success in his maiden season in English football – which yielded a Premier League title for Chelsea – appears to have taken a backseat to various rumours about his future and disgruntlement in his squad.

Various sources have suggested the 48-year-old is keen for a move back to Italy with AC Milan when his contract runs out, while David Luiz’s absence from the Manchester United fixture – where he wasn’t even included on the bench – has raised a few eyebrows.
