Spanish outlet AS have been meticulous in their reporting of Gareth Bale’s injury woes at Real Madrid, claiming the Welsh international has cost his side €1,060,377 per match – given his transfer fee, salary and all the time he has spent sidelined through injury.

“Our player Gareth Bale, who felt some discomfort in his left leg at the end of Thursday’s training session, today underwent various tests carried out by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical team,” read a statement on Real Madrid’s official website.

“He has been diagnosed with a strain to the middle third of the adductor longus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

2017 has been an injury plagued year for the 28-year-old; he’s started just 10 games in La Liga since the turn of the year, and just four times in the UEFA Champions League.

According to an incredible statistic from AS, Gareth Bale has missed 73 games since joining Real Madrid in 2013.
