Real Madrid speedster Gareth Bale is facing another month on the sidelines after suffering an injury in training.
The Welshman was in line to return for Los Blancos in the derby against crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid next weekend before his latest setback.
“Our player Gareth Bale, who felt some discomfort in his left leg at the end of Thursday’s training session, today underwent various tests carried out by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical team,” read a statement on Real Madrid’s official website.
“He has been diagnosed with a strain to the middle third of the adductor longus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
2017 has been an injury plagued year for the 28-year-old; he’s started just 10 games in La Liga since the turn of the year, and just four times in the UEFA Champions League.
According to an incredible statistic from AS, Gareth Bale has missed 73 games since joining Real Madrid in 2013.
