Star Manchester United duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba are on the verge of a return to the first-team after resuming full training, according to Neil Custis of The Sun.
French international Paul Pogba last turned out for The Red Devils in September, and was forced off in a UEFA Champions League clash with Basel after just 20 minutes with a hamstring issue.
Veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered an ACL injury in April which initially threatened to end his career, but the former Paris Saint-Germain man vowed to return for Manchester United.
Both are believed to be in with a chance of making the bench for Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United, which will place Jose Mourinho against old nemesis Rafael Benitez in a Premier League match for the first time in 10 years.
The potential return of Ibrahimovic and Pogba would add a huge creative boost to a Manchester United side who have scored just two times in their last four league matches.
Following a credible 0-0 draw at Anfield, where Mourinho’s troops completely nullified Liverpool’s attacking fluidity, they suffered setbacks at Huddersfield Town and Chelsea, losing 2-1 and 1-0, but managed a narrow victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Manchester United head into Gameweek 12 of the Premier League in 2nd spot on 23 points, eight adrift of Pep Guardiola’s rampant Manchester City.
